Class Charity Information

18th Sep 2017

As part of our development of PDMU (Personal Development and Mutual Understanding) across school this year, partly as a result of the outcome from parent / carer surveys, we will be focusing on the mutual understanding aspect and the importance of thinking of others less fortunate than ourselves.

I am delighted to inform you that each year group in school, including Nursery, has selected a charity that they would like to support throughout this year. In order to facilitate this initiative, Wednesdays will become our charity days. Children are asked to bring in a small donation on a Wednesday for their year group charity. Class teachers will collect the donations first thing on a Wednesday morning. This is not a competition…a small donation of a few copper coins will be more than enough each week. The children are extremely excited about supporting their charities. We will endeavour to arrange for a visitor from each charity to attend school to talk to the children about their work.

These are the charities our children will be supporting:

Nursery AM and PM               Cancer Fund For Children

Primary 1                                Ronald McDonald House Charities

Primary 2                                Guide Dogs Charity

Primary 3                                RNLI

Primary 4                                Stand By Me

Primary 5                                Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice

Primary 6                                Make A Wish

Primary 7                                Williams Syndrome

In my future newsletters I will give you a little more information about each of the charities. If you are in school at the main office, take a look at the noticeboard to find out how well the children and staff are doing in supporting their identified charities.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to collecting your donations from this Wednesday (20th September).
