Mr Lacey visits P2 with his guide dog.

21st Jan 2020

Today Mr and Mrs Lacey visited P2 with Mr Lacey's guide dog, Juno.

P2 are learning about theirs senses and bodies.  Part of this topic is 'eye sight' and Mr Lacey came to tell the children what it is like to be blind.

He told the P2's how he manages daily tasks without his sight.  Mr Lacey brought his cane, speaking watch, audio book reader and other items.  Some children tried to use the cane and wear his special glasses!

Mrs Lacey showed the boys and girls pictures as Mr Lacey spoke and she showed us how she guides Mr Lacey when he is walking without his guide dog.

Juno, the guide dog, was really well behaved.  Mr Lacey showed everyone Juno's working harness and how he keeps him clean.  He told us how important it is not to distract a working guide dog as the blind person may have an accident.  Mr Lacey told us how Juno looks after him and that they are best buddies.

Mrs Lacey said they would both enjoy the thank you chocolates P2 gave them!
